After a week of hectic work with budgets and plans, I finally find release in the form of, you guessed it, travel.
To the city of my birth and of my dreams - the one and only Bangalore.
Will I finally discover that the city fathers have, at long last, got their act together with a plan to retain and restore its charm/pride/unique-ness?
Hmmmm.
If reality bites, I hope it won't be too deep! Bangalore is an expensive place for medical care!
;)

Sweety...in a manner of speaking - 'danks very much' !!!! :)
 | | | Ravi May 2, 2005 07:07 AM PDT
Lavanya! Hi. To quote Prabhu, let me say 'welgum, welgum'. Gr8 seeing you here!
Generally, people see a doc when they get bitten! Unless, of course, tlc is a better substitute! Hmm...which would I prefer? Lemme get back to you? ;)

Prabz...what do I do? I work hard, I enjoy life! LOL...ok, just kidding. I work for an association that is represents the Vacation Ownership industry in India. Small outfit, big mission, great fun! Just the way I like it...ah ah! :)

 | | | Ravi April 29, 2005 11:50 AM PDT
Thanks, Trouv! Trying my best to have a good time here and the only thing biting here ( so far! ) have been these damn mosquitoes! ;)
 | | | Ravi April 29, 2005 11:49 AM PDT
Ramya, guess you know best about health care in Chennai since you report quite a bit on that segment. Re: costs in the UK, am not surprised! An ex-colleague once recounted how, during a short trip to London, she had no choice but to pay in POUNDS, for Appalams which we pay a coupla rupees here! :)

BANGALORE - been there twice and no good memories :-(
But that's History.
Hope you have a good time out there. And seriously pray that reality doesn't bite too hard ;-)

ha! can i tell you please, about how expensive and murderous it is to fall ill in England. with a toothache that threatens to blow your head apart! :( it hurts even as i think about it.
but, seriously. chennai is the best in terms of health care destinations

Hey Narayanan...you are absol. right re: Bangalore paying a price. And everybody does PINE for the Bangalore of old...though, that is now only a memory! You betcha I will blog about my visit and yes, you will get to see a view of the good and bad of Bangalore. Thanks for that tip.... :)
 | | | Ravi April 28, 2005 06:32 PM PDT
Sophi....had I known that you would be free at school...er, college, we'd have called you for the lunch. Next time, eh? :)
 | | | Ravi April 28, 2005 06:31 PM PDT
Thanks, Gowri! Yup, it is and directly related to cost of living standards! Bangalore being expensive, doctors don't come cheap. My experience, anyway! :)
PS: Some good things happening in Bangalore...will blog about it when I come back, for sure!
 | | | Ravi April 28, 2005 06:27 PM PDT
Jammy: which line - the one about Bangalore? Oh, you mean the one about the 'biting' part? Ya, thats mine. Nice, eh? Came in a flash, it did! Come to think of it, these flashes seem to come, when the better half is away on holiday! Do you see a connection? HEHEHE! Boy, I'm outta here...... :)
 | | | Ravi April 28, 2005 06:21 PM PDT
Karthik...to say he's screwed up is an understatement. More like he f****d up and badly! We've lost a lot of goodwill in the process, we have! :(
 | | | Ravi April 28, 2005 06:20 PM PDT
Thanks Hari! I will. I am meeting Ferrari, for sure!
 | | | Ravi April 28, 2005 06:18 PM PDT
Hi Savitha...an interesting thing happened on my way home here, on my arrival. Will blog about it, for sure, with pics! :)
PS: No rains here since 2 days, I believe but its equally hot like in Chennai. Absolutely NO sweating, though!
 | | | Narayanan April 28, 2005 08:19 AM PDT
Like all other cities in India, Bangalore has also payed the price for erratic developments ( IMHO).
Used to like it a lot a decade back...Not sure if I will these days.!!
Enjoy your stay, have fun...but keep blogging...No excused please.
Need photos of goods and bads from Bangalore.!!! OK.!!

Good to hear that something good is happening in Bangalore! And I like the last line too :-)
But seriously, is Blr more expensive than other cities in terms of medical care?
 | | | jammy April 27, 2005 09:52 PM PDT
